Iowa Early Learning Standards (IELS) - 3rd Edition Orientation

Implementation of the Iowa Early Learning Standards (IELS) 3rd edition began late 2018. Almost 4,000 in the early childhood workforce and others attended a two-hour face-to-face training session (22%) or completed the two-hour online format (78%) Orientation.

And only 3% tell us they will not change what they do because of the IELS.

Things to know about the Iowa Early Learning Standards (IELS) 3rd Edition Orientation:

  1. It is required for those who will participate in the upcoming Iowa Quality Rating and Improvement System. Those who complete the Orientation before or after the IQ4K rollout receive the two hours of completion credit.
  2. It is the only orientation training for the IELS that meets the requirement for the Iowa Early Learning Standards IQ4K requirement.
  3. It is available via face-to-face training. Contact your CCR&R office or access i-PoWeR to register. Use training title IELS to search and enroll.
  4. It is available via the ISU Moodle (most often used by registered child development homes and child care centers) or the AEA Learning Online (most often used by school district personnel). Use training title IELS to search and enroll.
